“We implore commercial vehicles and private vehicles to install the devices”- FRSC

The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) commander in Ogun state is urging all motorists to install speed limit device before April 1st deadline.

According to Mrs Ime Offiong, the commission's free advisory and cautioning of commercial vehicles will end on March 31st.

Leadership reports that Offiong said full implementation of the SLDs will begin on the 1st of April, adding that this will reduce road traffic crashes.

"We implore commercial vehicles and private vehicles to install the devices to ensure reduction of crashes on our roads. As the day of the full implementation is drawing nearer, we enjoin people to comply with the full implementation of the speed limit devices,’’ she said.

Last month, the FRSC Ogun Unit Commander, Mr Kehinde Dahuns, also urged all commercial drivers to install SLDs before the April 1st deadline.

Speeding and reckless driving are major causes of road crashes and this is why the FRSC introduced the speed limiter device to reduce speed on the highways.

We are commencing the enforcement by April, especially with commercial vehicles, and that is why we are starting with the sensitisation with them, first."
