Agency collaborates with Enugu state on road safety

The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) has formed a partnership with Enugu state government.

Road Safety

According to Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, the Governor of Enugu State, this proves his administration's commitment to road.

While declaring open the "2016 FRSC Strategic Session for FRSC Commanding Officers" at the Corps’ Academy at Udi, Enugu, the governor stressed the need for this partnership.

"The annual training session holding this year under the theme, "Enhancing Organisational Productivity", is therefore, a proper step in this direction. More so as it offers officials of the Corps the opportunity to strategize on global best practices in road safety administration and to discuss current issues including contemporary economic and social realities and other challenges relevant to the Corps’ mandate and goals,” he stated.

Governor Ugwuanyi promised to help the FRSC reduce the traffic and accidents in the state.

The Corps Marshal of FRSC, Boboye Oyeyemi, urged his officers to take advantage of the session and ensure that road users obey traffic rules.

"You must sustain advocacy and ensure strict enforcement of safety standards. In the same vein, Management will continue to work for the provision of more logistics and would set up more road side clinics/Ambulance points along some critical highways across the country to bring succor to the road travelers,” he stated.

Oyeyemi warned his commanding officers to only promote the use of speed limiters, not the brands.

“FRSC is not involved either in the installation, sale, marketing or promotion of a particular vendor,” he added.
