According to the auto company, these battery-powered electric vehicles will account for 20 to 25 percent of its sales volume, The Verge reports.

Volkswagen is also delving into other areas, other than the electric car world.

The automaker has reportedly invested in ride-sharing, and self-driving (autonomous) technology, which is expected to be licensed to other companies, in the next 10 years.
