Agency recovers N84 million from Ex-NAF director of finance

In recent investigations, Economic and Financial Crimes (EFCC) has reportedly discovered and recovered N84 million from Air Commodore, O.O Gbadebo, ex-director of finance and budget of the Nigerian Air Force.

According to the recovered money is part of fund budgeted for procurement of weapons, it was diverted from the Nigerian Air Force account.

EFCC has reportedly seized properties worth about N5bn belonging to Gbadebo and also ones belonging to Air Vice Marshal J.B Adigun, the Chief of Accounts and Budgeting of the Nigerian Air Force.

.“After we sealed some properties last week, we continued to grill the three officers. Gbadebo finally confessed to diverting N84m into his company account. The money was swiftly recovered,” a source told The Punch representative.

“We have also seized a large fish processing company belonging to Adigun. He also manufactures fish feeds, which he sells to end users,” he added.

The source further told The Punch that about $117,000 was recovered in the Gbadebo’s safe house and N200,000 in cash from his home, contrary to the reports that said the money was recovered from a soak away.

In the same vein, the source said that the reports on the EFCC recovering $1 million from Amosu’s Badagry home is untrue.

“There have been reports that $1m was recovered from a soak away in Amosu’s Badagry home. This is not true.

“The actual amount recovered was about $117,000 and it was kept in a safe in the house and not in a soak away. The money is currently in our exhibit room. We also recovered N200, 000 in cash from the house.”

Adigun has reported been released from custody while Gbadebo’s release has not been confirmed.
