Why you should visit Ondo state, home to the richest king in Nigeria

There are lots to see and do in The Sunshine State, including the majestic Ugbo Kingdom.

Ondo, often regarded as "The Sunshine State", was created on February 3, 1976. Its state capital is the popular Akure, while there are some other popular local governments such as Akoko, Okitipupa, Ondo town and Owo.

Ondo is home to the "biggest palace in Africa" as well as the richest king in Nigeria. Oba Obateru Akinrutan is the Olugbo (traditional King) of Ugbo land, a small oil-rich community in Ilaje local goverment area. He is worth over $300 million gotten from his businesses in oil. Ugbo Kingdom is a fisherman town along the coastline of the South-Western region of the country, which explains the oil deposits.

In addition to all the regal attractions, Ondo has other interesting things to see and do in the city and towns.

4. Ebomi Lake

According to the inhabitants of Ipesi Akoko, the lake has supernatural powers for protecting the villagers during the times of war. It is believed to have unseen soldiers that fight battles for the Ipesi people.

5. Igbo Olodumare

Igbo Olodumare is famed to be home to demons, spirits and other supernatural beings. Adventurers and tourists come from far and near to confirm this myth.
