Amidst fashion brands name changes/dropping John Galliano returned to designing just yesterday 14th January 2015 with his debut collection for Maison Martin Margiela only this time the brand 'quietly announced' a name change to Maison Margiela dropping the first name of the house's founder "Martin" just like Saint Laurent dropped the "Yves" years ago but without a formal announcement.

The New York Times’ reports that a company spokesman said the name change “reflects the evolution of the house.”
Margiela made no official announcement except for an image of their show invitation that reads Maison Margiela Paris. Guess the new name rings in John Galliano's tenure with simplicity but then was it necessary? What do you think?
