Getting a manicure done can be a lot of work especially when it is ruined almost as soon as it is finished. A DIY manicure can be made to last longer if we follow these steps.

1. Always use base coat.

Using a base coat gives the nail polish something to 'stick to'; this makes your mani lasts days longer and ultimately protects your nails from staining.

2. That Three Strokes Rule.

When painting your nails, according to a guide by nail pro Simcha whitehall "First, you want to dip the brush into the bottle and get a decent-size bead of polish at the edge of your brush.  "You want the polish to do the majority of the work and spread out as it's placed on the nail — the brush is there to just guide the dot of polish into place. Starting at the base of your nail, stroke the brush to the left, to the right, and then down the center".

3. No Quick dry polish.

Try as much as possible to avoid quick rey nail polish, they end up drying out your nails, that is not healthy for your nails.

4. Use a generous amount of cuticle oil.

Cuticle oil hydrates your nails, use all over your entirely painted nails. whitehall says if for instance you  accidentally hit them against something, the oil offers some slip, so they're less likely to nick."

5. Cold Or Ice.

After painting your nails, dip your fingertips into a bowl of cold water or run cold water over it. It helps dry faster.
