Future, Wizkid, Cassper Nyovest, others to perform at awards ceremony

The MTV Africa Music Awards will hold in Johannesburg for the first time this year at the Ticketpro Velodrome.

Viacom International Media Networks Africa and MTV Base are set to stage the sixth edition of the MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMA) on Saturday 22 October, 2016 at the Ticketpro Dome, Johannesburg, South Africa.

The ceremony will feature stunning performances from African and international artistes along with the show’s signature cross-genre and cross-border collaborations.

Artistes that will be performing at the event include Future, Wizkid, Yemi Alade, Diamond, Emtee, Kwesta, Patoranking, Alikiba, Babes Wodumo, Cassper Nyovest, Nasty C, Ycee, and many more.

MTV MAMA 2016 which was meant to be hosted by comedian Trevor Noah will now be hosted by South African TV personality Bonang Matheba.

MAMA 2016 will celebrate African talent across 17 award categoriesincludingBest Male,Best Female,Best SongandBest Collaboration by Absolut The contribution of artists from Portuguese and French-speaking Africa will also be recognised in the Best Lusophone and Best Francophone categories.

Additional categories include the Africa Re-Imagined Awardand Personality of the Year.The nominations for the awards will be revealed in September 2016.
