20-yr-old man arrested for raping 9-yr-old girl in Ogun
A 20-year-old man has been arrested by the police in Ogun State after he forcefully had carnal knowledge of a 9-year-old girl.
Punch reports that Olaseni was arrested following a complaint lodged at the Sango-Ota Police Headquarters by the father of the victim, Adepoju Akinyemi.
Confirming the incident and the arrest of the suspect, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Abimbola Oyeyemi said Akinyemi had reported that the Olaseni who is a neighbour, came to his house at the New life Estate, Ota, while he was at his workplace and forcefully raped his young daughter on his bed.
ASP Oyeyemi added that after the suspect was arrested, he confessed to committing the crime claiming that he exploited his closeness to the family since their houses were not far from each other.
The PPRO said that the suspect also said he met the girl alone in their living room from where he dragged her into her father’s bedroom and had sex with her.
The state Commissioner of Police, CPAhmed Iliyasu, has ordered the transfer of the case to the Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Labour Unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID), Abeokuta, for further investigation and prosecution of the suspect.
