Readers support paying N5,000 to unemployed Nigerians

Pulse Nigeria Poll voters believe payment of N5,000 to the unemployed by the FG is a welcome idea.

The Federal Government, as part of fulfilling its campaign promises of creating a social welfare scheme for Nigerians, have proposed an across the board payment of N5,000 to unemployed and poor Nigerians as a way of ameliorating poverty in the land.

The proposal on its own, would be a welcome idea but its implementation, according to Nigerians, would surely pose problems to the government as it could be hijacked by politicians and the money ending up in their hands, thereby shortchanging those the money was meant for.

Others are of the view that the money is either too small or will make those being paid to be lazy and abuse the priviledge.

66 percent of voters are however happy with the government's initiative and believe if carefully planned and implemented, the scheme will be a success while 34 percent think it will not work.
