These 3 women waited until she they were on there period, before standing outside parliament in light trousers – allowing menstrual bloods to seep through their clothing.

Charlie Edge and Ruth Howarth decided toform a small but striking demonstration to highlight the government's refusal to class sanitary towels as essential.

Currently, tampons/sanitary pad are subject to EU tax, meaning that women are charged a government fee to purchase them, on top of the costs incurred by retailers.

Sanitary products are still classed as a "luxury item" despite the fact other products do not pay the tax.

They wrote: "We're getting lots of dirty looks and someone just shouted at us to get a job. But everyone keeps saying 'haha omg how quickly would we get free tampons if everyone stopped wearing them?!"

It is unclear how these women think the unclean and disgusting stunt would convince the government to remove the tax.

This is not the first time women have tried to state their cause using Menstrual blood, some months back a woman to raise money for immigrants.
