The prosecutor, Mr John Ijagbemi, told the court that the matter was reported at Dutse Police Station on the same day and was later transferred to the FCT Police Command.

The prosecutor said that the defendants, who pretended to be passengers, stopped the victim and asked him to take them to Bwari Area Council from Dutse Alhaji.

According to the prosecutor, on getting to Usman Dam along Bwari area, the defendants asked the victim to stop, hit him on the head with a stick, tied him with a rope and carried out the criminal act.

The prosecutor said that the offence contravene the provision of section 2 (a)(b) and section 6 of the Robbery and Firearms Special Provision Act, Law of the Federation of Nigeria 2004.

The defendants, who could not speak English language admitted to have committed the offence after the interpretation was made to them in Hausa.

Mr Oladapo Adeya, the lawyer who offered to defend the accused, prayed the court to temper justice with mercy, saying  that all necessary documents would be forwarded to defend the case.

Justice Yusuf Halilu, however, entered a not guilty plea for the defendants.

The judge ordered the defendants to be remanded in Kuje Prison and adjourned the matter till Oct. 3 for hearing.
