The court heard that Akala, a Master degree holder, was said to have arranged with Odutan and others to kidnap his friend, Oluwafemi, because he was in need of money to pay his house rent and his friend was not willing to assist him.
2 kidnappers jailed for 31 years
Two kidnap suspects, Sunday Akala, 35, and Monsuru Odutan, 38, have been found guilty of conspiracy to commit robbery and kidnapping of one Omosebi Oluwafemi by an Ikeja High Court and have been sentenced An Ikeja High Court, yesterday, sentenced to 31 years imprisonment each.
The duo were arraigned by Lagos State government on a three-count charge of conspiracy to commit armed robbery and kidnapping, for which they pleaded not guilty but the presiding judge, Justice Lateefa Okunnu, convicted them on the evidence of the prosecution and sentenced them accordingly.
