A middle-aged man who escaped from a police cell in Ondo State, Isaac Taye, has been sentenced to six months in prison by a Chief Magistrates' Court sitting in Akure, the state capital.
It was gathered that Taye was arrested and locked up for stabbing one Sunday Akinola with a broken bottle during a fight but he mysteriously escaped from the cell.
However, he was re-arrested and charged to court where he was sent to cool his fleeing feet in prison by Chief Magistrate of the court, Sunday Adedapo.
According to the police prosecutor, Pelumi Adejuwon, the offence was contrary to and punishable under Section 135(a) of the Criminal Code 37Vol. Laws of the Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.
The convict pleaded guilty to the offence, begging for leniency.
