2 men who trekked to Yola to honour Atiku stranded

Three men who trekked and rode a bicycle to Adamawa State to honour former VP Atiku Abubakar are now stranded in the state capital.

Two men who decided to fall in line with the trekking spirit and undertake an ardours trip to Yola, the capital of Adamawa State, in honour of former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, in the hope of meeting the man and probably, get their pockets lined up, are now regretting their actions.

Abubakar Suleiman and Salihu Jibrin, who trekked from Lagos State and Shelleng town in Adamawa State respectively, are now stranded in the city as they have neither been able to meet with their hero nor get any form of compensation.

Another man, Aliyu Adamu, who embarked on a bicycle ride from Kaduna to the Yola, also met the same fate as his trekking partners.

The tired and dejected trio complained bitterly of the unexpected treatment they got after the laboured for several weeks to get to Yola as they have not been allowed to see Atiku or even his aides.

Jibrin narrated his plight:

“I trekked for 38 days all the way from Lagos to Yola to see Atiku in view of his role over APC victory in the general election but up to now I was unable to see him.

I am now stranded with no money to go back; at times I sleep in motor park or squat with good Samaritans."

Adamu, the bicycle rider said:

“I want to thank the Secretary, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Adamawa Council, Mr Baba Zare, who had been assisting me since arrival to cope with the difficult situation I found myself.

I want to meet Atiku before finding my way back to Kaduna."

The Shelleng trekker, Suleiman, is also suffering the same fate but for him, there is a minor amelioration of his plight as he is squatting with relatives pending when he will be able to meet with his hero.
