2 weed smokers drown while evading arrest

The two victims were reportedly running from the security men when they jumped into a nearby river and drowned.

Two men in Bayelsa State on Saturday, January 24 jumped into a river and drowned while evading arrest for smoking weed.

Meipor Ebinimaias, a father of three and another, yet to be identified, were reportedly smoking cannabis in the Obunagha community in the Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, when men from the state security outfit, Operation Doo Akpo stormed their hideout.

When they saw the security officials, the two took to their heels and jumped into a nearby river where they drowned.

The corpse of Meipor Ebininias was discovered on Saturday evening while that of the other is yet to be found.

According to reports, the two deceased were smoking weed in one of the classrooms of the community’s primary school when the incident happened.
