A former local government council chairman in Adamawa State has been dragged to a court in the state by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for perpetuating fraud while in office.

The former Chairman of Hong local government area of Adamawa State, Ibrahim Buba Gayus, has been dragged to the Federal High Court sitting in Yola, the state capital, by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC,) on a 12-count charge bordering on conspiracy, embezzlement, and diversion of public funds, fraud and abuse of office to the tune of N41.1 million.

The anti-graft agency, in a press release, stated that Gayus had  allegedly collected N50 million agriculture loan on behalf of members of staff but instead, gave out less than N10 million to them and diverted the remaining for personal use.
