Woman in Nassarawa allegedly kills her 3-day old baby

A mother is in police custody after confessing to killing her own child.

Idirisu Kennedy, the Public Relations Officer of the police command in the state revealed this in an interview with the press on Wednesday, August 16, 2017, in the state capital Lafia as reported by Vanguard.

After the police received the report of the dead child, an investigation was carried out. The intelligence report led to the arrest of the baby's mother who was the culprit. It is said she confessed to killing her child. She however did not state why she carried out such a crime.

"Based on preliminary investigation, the woman is sane and has admitted to committing the crime" said the PRO. He also said when the investigation has been wrapped up, Keleve would be charged to court.

Mwuese Keleve's husband said he does not know why his wife committed such a horrible crime. The couple have been married for 15 years and the deceased baby was their third child. The baby has been buried.

The traditional ruler of Kaderko Kaderko area of Keana Local Government Area where the crime was committed said what the mother of the child did was "devilish."

The Oso of Kadoko of Kaderko, Fabian Orugu praised the collaboration between the residents of the area and the police.
