A young mother and her little daughter have been murdered by men suspected to be hired assassins in Benin.

A young mother and her four-year-old daughter have been killed by suspected assassins in Benin, the Edo State capital, the Punch Newspaper reports.

The woman identified as Itohan Enagbare, 28, and her daughter, Iwinosa, were reportedly murdered in front of their residence on Osaze Street, off Dumez Road, on Wednesday, November 9, when the killers dragged her outside and stabbed her to death.

Her loud cries for help brought her young child out to see why her mother was shouting, only for the men to also hack her to death as well before fleeing the scene.

The Edo State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Abiodun Osifo, who confirmed the incidence, said the landlady of the woman has been arrested in connection with the deaths.

“There is one arrest so far; that is the landlady of the late woman. Information got to the police that they had been having issues. And since then, the woman (landlady) had been threatening the late woman.

The landlady’s son, who is also a suspect, is on the run. The landlady is in police custody and undergoing interrogation.”
