SSS Says Abubakar Shekau Is Dead

There is confusion currently brewing in the land as the State Security Service, SSS, stated that the real leader of the dreaded Boko Haram sect, Sheikh Abubakar Shekau is long dead and that the person currently parading himself as Shekau is fake.

With the rate at which the insurgents have been releasing videos since the abduction of the female students of the Government Secondary School Chibok, Borno State, allegedly by Shekau, the SSS, at a press briefing, said they have strong evidence that the man in the videos cannot be the real Shekau as he was killed by the military sometime ago.

The SSS Public Relations Deputy Director, Ms Marilyn Ogar, had this to say:

Boko Haram has become a franchise; anybody can assume and lay claim to any name.

What I know is that the original Abubakar Shekau is dead; the person claiming to be the national leader now is not the original Abubakar Shekau.

If security sources tell you that somebody is dead, you don't have to come out and doubt that.

So what do we now believe?
