A middle aged housewife, Idayat Olayiwola, has told an Osogbo Customary Court sitting in Osun State, that her husband and father of her only child, Nurudeen Olayiwola, was a petty thief who stole her money regularly, just as he refuses to give her money, thereby starving her and their child, Nigerian Tribune reports.

“My husband would not give me and my child money for food. Instead, he would be stealing my money and whenever I asked him to return my stolen money, he would resort to beating me.

“On one of such occasions, one of my neighbours called my parents when he was beating me mercilessly. When my parents came and asked him what he wanted, he said I should leave his house because he does not love me anymore. That is why I am seeking for divorce,” Idayat told the court.

But in denying the allegation in the divorce case instituted by his wife, Olayiwola of Kabelo Street, Otaefun, Osogbo, described the allegation of stealing levelled against him by his wife as untrue, but admitted that he told her parents that she should leave his house because he does not love her again.

Delivering judgement, the president of the court, Chief Popoola Bolarinwa, dissolved the marriage saying that all evidence pointed to the fact that both parties wanted the divorce.
