Doctor Who Treated Sawyer Dies Of Ebola

Dr. Adadevoh is said to have fallen into a coma and she gave up the ghost this evening

The number of Ebola-related deaths in Nigeria has risen to five as another healthworker  died of the disease today.

Dr. Stella Ameyo Adadevoh was one of the people who treated infected Liberian-American, Patrick Sawyer at the First Consultant Hospital in Obalende, Lagos.

According to Sahara Reporters, a source close to the family confirmed her death after she was said to have fallen into a coma.

The Minister of Health, Professor Onyebuchi Chukwu also confirmed the death of a patient but didn't mention her name.

He said via a statement released on his behalf by his Special Assistant on Media and Communication, Dan Nwomeh, that the death of “one of the primary contacts of the index Ebola Virus Disease case, the most senior doctor who participated in the management of the patient, a female consultant physician,” has occurred.

“With this unfortunate development, the total number of Ebola Virus-related deaths in Nigeria now stands at five. The other two patients currently under treatment in the isolation wards are stable and are being taken care of."

Dr. Adadevoh is said to have insisted that Patrick Sawyer be kept under quarantine after he was diagnosed with the disease.
