Two in the dock for gang-raping 15-yr-old girl

Two young men have been remanded in prison for kidnapping a 15-year-old girl and taking turns to rape her.

Two bad guys have been arrested and arraigned before the Apapa Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, for allegedly kidnapping a 15-year-old girl and taking turns to rape her.

The suspects, Jamiu Yusuf and Rilwan Oduntan, both 19-years of age, according to reports, had met the girl in front of her residence on Onigide Street, Ijora Badia area of Lagos on May 12, at about 8 pm and asked her for directions to a particular area.

As the girl was leading them to the said location, the reportedly overpwoered her, abducted her to their residence where they took turns to have sex with her.

It was after the ordeal that the girl told her mother what the boys did to her and the mother reported the assault at the Ijora Badia Police Division which led to the arrest of the suspects.

The victim narrated her ordeal in court thus:

"I was in front of my house, when they came to meet me and ask for direction to a street. I offered to help them, not knowing that they had plans to abduct and rape me.

When we got halfway to the street, they suddenly grabbed my hands and forcefully took me to their house. They locked me up in the room and took turns to rape me."

Police prosecutor, ASP Olusoji Ojaokomo, said during investigations, both suspects were found to have committed the crime.

"The accused conspired to abduct the girl and forcefully had carnal knowledge of her without her consent."

But the suspects pleaded not guilty to the offences, saying that the girl had consented to having sex with the two of the.

The judge granted them bail in the sum of N30, 000, but are to remain in prison custody till the bail conditions were met, while the case was adjourned till June 18, 2015, for mention.
