Jailbreak escapees in the net for robbery
Two inmates who escaped from the Federal Prisons in Ekiti State have been nabbed for armed robbery.
The duo of Adegboye Sunday and Ajimoko Kayode, were among several suspects paraded by the state Commissioner of Police, Taiwo Lakanu, who disclosed that Sunday, was arrested when he attempted to rob one Akingbinsola Feyi, a resident of Ori Apata area of Ado-Ekiti on December 5.
The jail bird reportedly led three others, armed with cutlasses, to attack the victims who were cooking in preparation for a wedding ceremony.
For Kayode, his return journey to his 'home' came when he was nabbed after leading a gang of four suspects on a robbery operation at Olokemeji area of Ado-Ekiti on January 20, 2015.
Lakanu said:
"Close to 40 armed robbery suspects are with us but they have not been charged to court because of the ongoing judiciary workers’ strike.
Our cells are congested and you know those arrested for capital offences cannot be released.
Some of those arrested are among those who escaped from prisons, so we urge the general public to volunteer information to assist us to nip crime in the bud."
