The Court of Appeal in Lagos has upheld the victory of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode in the 2015 governorship elections in the state.

The court also ordered Ambode’s opponent, Jimi Agbaje to pay N50,000 to each of the respondents as compensation.

The decision was reached by a five-man appeal panel on Wednesday, August 26, 2015.
The court also ordered Ambode’s opponent, Jimi Agbaje to pay N50,000 to each of the respondents as compensation.
The governor’s election victory had earlier been confirmed by the state election tribunal on July 1, 2015 which struck out Agbaje’s petition after declaring it incompetent.
Ambode won the April 11, 2015 election with 811,994 votes while Agbaje polled 659,788 votes.
