We Didn’t Hire Australian Negotiator, Stephen Davis - FG Says

Stephen Davis claims that he has worked for 2 Nigerian governments and contributed to attempts to free the missing Chibok girls.

The Federal Government of Nigeria has denied employing Australian, Stephen Davis as a Boko Haram negotiator.

Davis came into the spotlight recently when he accused Nigerian politicians of sponsoring Boko Haram and even went further to name former Borno state Governor, Ali Modu Sheriff and former Chief of Army Staff, Azuibike Ihejirika.

Davis also claims that he has worked for 2 Nigerian governments and has played an integral part in attempts to rescue the missing Chibok girls.

However, the Coordinator of the National Information Centre, Mike Omeri has said that the Australian is not in the employ of the FG, The Nation reports.

Omeri reportedly made this known today, September 5, 2014 in Abuja while also saying that the government had not hired anyone to negotiate with Boko Haram on its behalf and that if and when it did, Nigerians would know.

He said:

“For now nobody has been hired by the government to negotiate on its behalf with Boko Haram. Anytime the government decides to do so, it will make it known to the public.

“The government is still investigating the allegations made by the alleged negotiator. However, the government has no plan to question anybody because of those allegations made by the Australian,”

Davis, who claims to have links with Boko Haram commanders, also said that the Central Bank of Nigeria was being used to move around funds on the sect’s behalf.
