Rangers win Game Six, set up another Caps decider

For the third time in four years, the Washington Capitals and New York Rangers will require a Game Seven to decide who moves on in the playoffs after the Rangers beat the Caps 4-3 on Sunday. Chris Kreider scored twice at the Verizon Center, and Rick Nash and Dan Boyle tallied in the third period, as the Rangers staved off elimination for a second straight game.

Woods endures 'mixed bag' in trying week of play

Tiger Woods completed four rounds in back-to-back tournaments for the first time in 18 months but the former world number one will continue his drop in the rankings after the Players Championship. Woods, who had plummeted to 125th on the world list before Florida tournament can at best hope to be 129th this week after an even-par 72 at TPC Sawgrass left him at three-over-par 291 on Sunday.

LeBron James buzzer-beater lifts Cavaliers to win over Bulls

Forward LeBron James made a baseline jump shot as time expired to lift the Cleveland Cavaliers to an 86-84 win against the Chicago Bulls in Game Four of their Eastern Conference semi-final playoff series on Sunday. James finished with 25 points, 14 rebounds and eight assists as the Cavaliers evened the best-of-seven series at two games apiece ahead of Game Five in Cleveland on Tuesday.

Wright-Phillips brace gives Red Bulls first NY derby honors

The New York Red Bulls held on to beat New York City FC 2-1 in the inaugural derby meeting between the two clubs despite playing the last 54 minutes of the contest with 10 men after Matt Miazga was sent off. Goals from English striker Bradley Wright-Phillips at the start of each half proved enough to give the Red Bulls local bragging rights at their Red Bull Arena in Harrison, New Jersey.

'Overrated' Fowler wins Players Championship in playoff

American Rickie Fowler produced a stunning finish to claim the lucrative Players Championship in a playoff at TPC Sawgrass on Sunday. The 26-year-old outlasted 2008 champion Sergio Garcia and world number 123 Kevin Kisner in extra holes after finishing his final six holes of regulation in six-under-par.

Powell speeds to year's fastest 100 meters

Asafa Powell ran the fastest 100 meters in the world this year when he clocked a blazing 9.84 seconds at the Jamaica International Invitational in Kingston on Saturday. The time was the former world record holder's fastest in five years as the 32-year-old beat American Ryan Bailey (9.93) and Jamaican Nesta Carter (9.98) in the first sub-10 seconds 100 of the year.

Jordan pushes Clippers closer to first Western final

Center DeAndre Jordan's double-double led the Los Angeles Clippers to the brink of a first Western Conference final with a 128-95 win over the Houston Rockets at the Staples Center on Sunday. With 26 points and 17 rebounds, Jordan was one of six Los Angeles players in double figures as the Clippers took a 3-1 lead in the best-of-seven series ahead of Game Five at the Toyota Center in Houston on Tuesday.

Nadal focused on positives after Murray mauling in Madrid

Rafa Nadal slumped to one of his worst defeats in a clay final on Sunday but said his week in Madrid had been positive despite losing his Masters crown to Andy Murray in a crushing 6-3 6-2 reverse. The French Open champion, who will seek a record-extending 10th Roland Garros crown starting at the end of the month, has been struggling for consistency since returning from the injury and illness that dogged his 2014 season.

Murray stuns clay king Nadal to win Madrid Masters

Andy Murray continued his remarkable run on clay when he pulled off a stunning upset to dethrone home favourite Rafa Nadal 6-3 6-2 in the Madrid Masters final on Sunday and claim his second title on the surface in a week. Following up his debut triumph on the red dust on Monday in Munich, Murray denied Nadal a third straight triumph in the Spanish capital -- and record fifth overall -- and raised fresh doubts over the Spaniard's form heading into the French Open.

Rosberg turns the tide with Spanish win

Nico Rosberg beat Mercedes team mate Lewis Hamilton for the first time this season and cut the Formula One world champion's lead to 20 points with a commanding victory in the Spanish Grand Prix on Sunday. Hamilton, who had won three of the first four grands prix, had lost the battle for pole position and a slow getaway from the front row left the Briton playing catch-up all race.
