Fire breaks out in Marina Torch skyscraper [PHOTOS]

The inferno began at about 2am in the middle of the 86-storey tower before rapidly spreading across 15 floors.

A fire outbreak, on Saturday, February 21, occurred in Dubai’s Marina Torch skyscraper causing hundreds to flee the building.

Thousands of people were evacuated and it took over two hours for firefighters to bring the blaze under control.

“There was debris flying everywhere, falling into neighbouring buildings,” an eye witness told BBC.

The building is one of the world's tallest residential towers and the apartments within are popular with Dubai's large number of expatriate professionals.
