Connecting the dots: The Creative Class

Lagos is one of the major inroads into Africa’s creative and cultural hub – a major part of the growing arts and entertainment sector that currently accounts for 1.2% of the country’s GDP.

Lagos has emerged a growing primate City; at least growing faster than other Cities in Sub-Saharan Africa in terms of Population, urban renewal and infrastructural development. As an Urban City, it is one of the major inroads into Africa’s creative and cultural hub – a major part of the growing arts and entertainment sector that currently accounts for 1.2% of the country’s GDP.

Technology - a growing trend has also become more prominent in everyday lives, with new innovations evolving rapidly that could influence and grow the arts and urban development in various ways.

The proposed event will stimulate conversations around the connections that exist between the arts, urban development and technology. It will bring together artists, creative producers, urban developers and digital expert in the UK and Nigeria with the aim to encourage innovative thinking and design solutions that will lead to collaborative working between these groups.

Discussions will be moderated by 4-6 panelists from Nigeria and the UK and audiences from both countries will be linked via Google hangout. Discussions will be followed by a networking session.
