Furthermore, they urged tech-savvy students and graduates not to confine themselves to their respective field of study but to strive for as much knowledge as is possible so they can apply themselves to a wider range of employment opportunities.

Speaking on the lack of very many employment opportunities, Nkem Bergho said tech-savvy students and graduates need not only focus on getting degrees and certifications but more importantly, the necessary skill-set needed to excel in their chosen field.

"A degree is important, but it's just a piece of paper. Nobody is going to employ you if you don't have the needed skills," she said.

The event ended with a presentation from one of PIN's TENT students and closing remarks from the panelists. You can follow the Pulse Tech coverage of the Social Media Week Lagos here or on all social media platforms via the hashtag #SMWLagos/#SMWLPulse.
