Video streaming service adds offline viewing for mobile phones and tablets

Users can now download movies and television shows to watch on mobile devices without an internet connection.

The new feature is included in all plans and is available on phones and tablets running the Android and iOS operating systems.

The streaming giant has added a download button to its app for mobile devices and while the feature is restricted to certain movies and shows, for now, we can expect more to become available in the near future.

Netflix is starting off with its own original content and shows like Orange Is The New Black, Narcos and The Crown are already available; however, certain elements will vary from region to region.

Users have two download options and can choose between optimising video quality and storage space on their devices. To start downloading, update your Netflix app to the most recent version from Google Play Store or the iOS App store.
