HP recently sold off,  its data networking business to Tsinghua Holdings for $2.3 billion.

It came as a shock to stakeholders in the tech industry when Meg Whitman, CEO HP announced to investors during the company’s earning call, that it was going to split.

Whitman announced  that HP will be splitting into two major companies namely: Hewlett-Packard Enterprise and HP Inc.

HP Inc. will deal with the sales of printers and personal computers, while its sister company, Hewlett-Packard Enterprise will handle technology like servers and data centres.

Whitman said the split will make the company stronger, adding that “Today I’m more convinced than ever that this is the right thing to do.”

The split will cost HP over $2b.
