Etisalat Hits 19.5million Subscriber Base In Nigeria

The mobile network service provider has reached almost 20million subscriber base so far.

tisalat Nigeria at the weekend says the active subscriber base in its network is now 19.5 million. Chief Executive Officer, Etisalat Nigeria, Mr. Matthew Willsher disclosed this at the formal opening of Etisalat experience centre at Robb House, Wuse Abuja.

With this development, Etisalat Nigeria now controls 25.35 per cent of Nigerian mobile telecom market share out of the total of 130 million active subscribers in the country.

However, the company said that 60 percent of this subscriber base is Lagos customers alone.

According to Willsher, the idea of establishing the experience centres across the country was informed by the company’s decision to offer unparallel services to its customers in a way they will have value for money.

“We have got quick recharge plan here, waiting lounge, and a whole lot of packages stimulating information for customers visiting any of these centres,” he added.

On broadband penetration, the Etisalat boss said the company is putting in more investments on broadband and 3G networks to deepen penetration of services in all areas of its operation, because of the importance it attached to the project.

“With that in mind, we have been investing in that area, we are the first to launch 3G network in the country. We have and will continue to expand our 3G network in other cities. We are expanding our 3G capacity in Abuja and Lagos currently because we want to be a giant in broadband and internet penetration in Nigeria.
