Tech giant launches new iPhone 8 & iPhone 8 Plus to mark anniversary

Apple has announced the launch of iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus as the company celebrates ten years of the birth of iPhones.

This is coming after the launch of the much anticipated iPhone X. These two new devices feature several upgrades over their predecessors, iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, which were released last year and are available in silver, space gray, and gold finish.

The iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus design follow the same design language as their predecessors, but they sport a metal and glass bodies and now come in only two storage variants - 64GB and 256GB.

Both the new iPhone models also support Qi wireless inductive which allows users to charge the iPhone without having to plug in a cable again. They also have improved display, 25 percent louder speakers, as well as glass front and back.

The iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus also come with upgraded cameras, according to Apple, more details and textures have been introduced to adding photos as the former continues to have  12-megapixel camera, while the latter has a duo of 12-megapixel camera sensors.

The new iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus will retail for $799 (N287,640) and $949 (N341,640) respectively.

Both phones will be available for pre-orders in the US, the UK, China and 26 other countries on September 15, with shipping slated to begin on September 22. This is about a month before iPhone X goes on pre-orders.
