With the increasing intake of sugar and carbohydrate-rich diets, it's no wonder why diabetes has been on the rise in recent times.
Rice, is one of such carbohydrate-rich diets which is a stale of many a Nigerian home. But according to Dr (Mrs) Khadijah Alarape, the State Nutrition Officer of Oyo State Ministry of Health, ofada rice is a much healthier option than white rice.
According to her,
"A wholegrain like ofada rice has three layers; the bran, germ and the endosperm. The bran contains most of the nutrients and when the wholegrain is processed to white or polished rice, majority of the nutrients, most especially in the bran are lost.”
