Buhari's arrival follows an explosion which rocked a crowded Chelsea neighbourhood in Manhattan, New York, on Saturday night.

Authorities are yet to ascertain the cause of the explosion but they ruled out a case of possible gas leak.

As at the time of filing this report, it was not certain if it was a terror attack.

Buhari is expected to will deliver Nigeria’s statement at the opening of the General Debate of the Assembly, which begins from September 19 to 23.

The President will speak on the theme: "The Sustainable Development Goals: a Universal Push to Transform our World.”
