Uk minister orders automaker to compensate customers

Volkswagen's diesel emission scandal is still affecting the auto company in the United Kingdom.

Volkswagen is in some serious trouble over it's United Kingdom (UK) customers.

According to UK Roads minister, Andrew Jones, the government “expects Volkswagen to treat its UK customers fairly” and is “pressing the manufacturer to address the issue’’.

This order came after the Department for Transport found a “discrepancy in compensation” between the German car maker's UK and United States (US) customers.

It was discovered that Volkswagen car owners got $1,000 worth of gift vouchers to “encourage loyalty”, while UK counterparts got nothing.

Volkswagen tried to fight this claim by saying that US motorists were in a “very different position” to those in Europe.

However, the minister has still given the order.
