Reports say over speeding leads to 80% of accidents in Ogun state

The Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) is blaming 80% of road accidents on over speeding, a common traffic violation.

Over speeding

Over speeding is a very common traffic violation.

It is so common that most people take it for granted.

In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the Unit Commander of TRACE in Sango-Ota, Mr Adekunle Ajibade, urged people to avoid this seemly harmless traffic violation.

He also urged them to reduce the effects of over speeding by using helmets.

"Motorists on our roads need to be careful and mindful of their speed in order to reduce accidents as well as to save lives and properties.

The casualty is always minimum when accidents occur with a motorcyclist carrying one passenger and using helmet,'' he said.

Ajibade called on road users to avoid parking indiscriminately.
