Uber joins autonomous industry!

Uber is currently developing it's own self-driving (autonomous) technology, which will be ready soon.

Uber's self-driving prototype

The ride-sharing giant made this announcement on May 19, 2016, while revealing it's intention to test it's cars on public roads in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, soon, Motorauthority reports.

Uber reportedly chose Pittsburgh because it's wide variety of road types, traffic patterns and weather conditions make it the ideal environment to develop self driving cars.

A report from SD Car News suggests that the company intends to construct temporary roads for its testing, which should last for the next 3-5 years.

These tests should be done with Uber's autonomous Ford Fusion prototype, equipped with a huge detection system on the roof.

Uber's competition includes Apple, Google, and more.
