Readers agree that bad roads are to blame for traffic in Lagos state

The results of the poll blame bad roads for the traffic in Lagos state.

Bad road

We asked readers what causes traffic in Lagos state, bad/substandard roads or LASTMA officials.

66.7% said bad/substandard roads were to blame for traffic while only 33.3% chose the officials.

According to the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, Ajibade Bade–Adebowale, the traffic is caused by roads that are not well designed.

"This was also the reason for the persistent gridlock experienced by motorists on the Apapa-Oshodi Expressway. This road is substandard compared to the pressure it is subjected to. The volume of vehicles plying the road daily is massive.”

According to them, traffic has got worse after Governor Ambode became the governor of Lagos state.
