Chief Magistrate Afolashade Botoku of an Ebute Meta Court has granted bail to Robert Nyong, the Managing Director of Lekki Garden Homes.

MD of Lekki Gardens, Richard Nyong, and one of the contractors, Odofin Taiwo Henry

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports the Magistrate granted the bail to Nyong and Taiwo Odofin, one of the contractors on the following conditions;

  • they report daily, between the hours of 10.00 a.m. and 5.00 p.m., to the State Criminal Investigations and lntelligence Department, SCIID, Panti-Yaba,
  • they submit their international passports and remain in the country until the case is concluded.

Nyong and Odofin were arrested after a five-storey building, belonging to Lekki Gardens, collapsed on March 8, 2016.

However, a lot of people thought the Police was wrong to arrest them.

The most vocal was Cool FM’s Freeze, who wondered why the MD was arrested, while Prophet TB Joshua was not.

Freeze has reacted to this recent decision to release Nyong on bail.
