Lagos State Police of Commissioner, Fatai Owoseni

In light of the increased rate of traffic robberies in Lagos state, the commissioner of of police, Mr Fatai Owoseni, has come up with a solution.

This solution is to put more police officers on the streets of Lagos especially in traffic prone areas.

However, this is not the only counter measure against traffic robbery.

Speaking during the parade of 42 suspected criminals at the State Command, Ikeja, he revealed that the commission has orders to arrest and prosecute hawkers.

This is because hawking contributes to traffic robbery.

"The most recent traffic robbery recorded was carried out by someone selling snacks on the road. So, the message is that motorists should be careful when patronising street traders.”

He also appealed to motorists to stay alert and avoid using their mobile devices whilst in traffic as this attracts traffic robbers.
