Okay, just in case you haven’t, let me help you out here; the term Selfie was coined in 2005 as a way to describe a special kind of self-portrait. A selfie isn’t a professional picture but usually refers to an image that is generally taken with a digital camera or smart phone held at arm’s length, snapped stylishly and usually destined for social media.
Now that you know what a Selfie is, we’re sure you’ve taken one before but how cool was it?
As a professional photographer, I’ll took it upon myself to enlighten you on how to achieve a perfect selfie.
Here's how to:
1. Strike a pose and capture a good angle: It’s cool to experiment with different angles on your face/body but try and focus on the best feature you have. Basically, always remember to share the best and delete the rest.
2. Show off something new: If you must take a selfie, be sure to show off something new, say a hairstyle/cut, accessories, shoes, clothes, curves or even a new implant.
3. Put up an interesting expression: You can never go wrong with a smile but if you must make a face like, pouting or a duck-face, make sure you have great lips and a cute face before you do that. Else, just smile!
4. For the daring ones, take a natural look: Just because I said daring, doesn't mean you must do it. So please, if you know you require a little touch-up don't follow the trend and get yourself trending...the wrong way.
5. Watch out for backgrounds and photo-bombers: This to me is one of the biggest selfie crimes most people commit. Always ensure your background is clear and you don't contradict your 'picture caption' or that lousy friend of yours sticking his/her face in your perfect pose.
6. Editing using Filters: Most smart phones and cameras have in-built filters to enhance your picture. Please you must not use all the filters available. Just use the ones that fits you the most.
Feel free to add yours but never miss these six!!!
