The duchess reportedly hadDutch designers Victor & Rolf spend 600 hours creating the silk gown, and adorning it with 248 handmade bows!

The princess married Prince Friso in 2004.

4. Queen Rania al Yassine of Jordan

At her 1993 wedding with King Abdullah bin Al-Hussein, the bride had her wedding gown designed by Bruce Oldfield.

It was agold-embellished dress which featured huge stylish lapels, short sleeves and a large belt that looked a lot like a power suit.

The designer that made her dress was the same man that made many of Princess Diana's evening gowns at the time.

3. Princess Grace Kelly of Monaco

At the time of her wedding to Prince Rainier III in April 1956, American actress, Grace Kelly wore one of the most gorgeous gowns in royal history

The lace dress which was talk of the town for a long time was designed by Helen Rose and featured long sleeves with a high neck, a corset-like waist and a billowing skirt.

Princess Diana's gown from her 1981 nuptials to Prince Charles will look outrageously out of place on a 2016 bride, of course, but in terms of its wow! effect at the time it was worn, it remains one of the most famous bridal dresses of all time.

The ivory-silk, taffeta and lace confection was designed by husband and wife team David and Elizabeth Emanuel. It was embroidered with more than 10,000 pearls and and included a massive, 25-foot train. She looked straight out of a fairytale!

Kate Middleton’s wedding to Prince William in 2011, has been dubbed the "wedding of the century" and it won’t be surprising if this is down to the custom-made Alexander McQueen dress the Duchess of Cambridge wore.
