Sculpture erected in honour of cat
The most famous cat in Istanbul has been honoured with its own statue at its favourite spot.

The famous feline named Tombili has been immortalized with the erection of its own statue. Tombili became famous when someone took and shared a photo of the cat lounging in a very relaxed pose on Istanbul's streets.
The cat soon rose to considerable internet fame and so when it died in August 2016, it was decided that it be honoured in real life.

The cat's chilling pose has been captured and frozen in time in form of a bronze sculpture that has just been unveiled.
The statue was erected at the same spot where the cat was originally photographed and became a viral sensation.
The statue was unveiled on October 4, 2016, coinciding with World Animal Day.
