Young graduate drowns after falling inside flooded gutter

Another young Nigerian has died after he fell into a flooded gutter and drowned.

Yinka Talabi, a young graduate of Business Administration of Ire Polytechnic, Osun State, has been reported dead after he slipped and fell into a gutter along Ikotun Road, Ikotun Area of Lagos State.

In a report by the Punch, Talabi who left behind a young wife and children, had gone to a branch of the First Bank of Nigeria in the area to withdraw some money when it began to rain heavily on Friday, November 6, and on his way back home, fell into the flooded gutter in an attempt to jump over it.

The 38-year-old Epe indigene's remains were later recovered in a swamp on Odediran Street two days later.

A woman who saw the sad incident narrated how it happened:

“The man had just come out of the bank and he was about to cross the gutter when his feet slipped. People tried to rescue him but his head was stuck in the drainage.

He appeared weak and did not struggle to save himself. The flood swept him through the drainage and everybody was helpless.”
