Should Hon. Aminu Tambuwal Resign From His Position After Defection?

The defection of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Aminu Tambuwal, from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to the opposition All Progressive Congress, APC, has been raising dust since he made the announcement last week.

The Inspector General of Police, Suleiman Abba, quickly ordered that security details of the Soko State born Tambuwal.

The PDP went further to say that the best thing for the Speaker to do is to resign from his position since he became the number four man in the country on the platform of the PDP.

But many Nigerians have come to the support of the embattled Speaker, saying that he has constitutional rights to decamp, citing instances of other politicians that have left other parties for the PDP without resigning from their positions.
