Crashed Air Algerie Aircraft Found In Mali, 1 Nigerian, 115 Others Confirmed Dead

The McDonnell Douglas MD-83 plane disappeared from radar above Mali and is now confirmed to have crashed killing all on board

The wreckage of the Air Algerie plane, which went missing yesterday on its way to Algeria from Burkina Faso, has been found in Mali, reports say.

The aircraft, which was carrying 116 passengers and crew, vanished from sight about 50 minutes into its journey to the Algerian capital, Algiers, from Ouagadougou.

Reports say that the pilot requested to change course after encountering a sand storm on the usual route.

The passengers on board the ill-fated flight included 51 French, 27 Burkinabe, eight Lebanese, six Algerians, five Canadians, four Germans, two from Luxembourg, one Cameroonian, one Belgian, one Egyptian, one Ukranian, one Swiss, one Nigerian and one Malian. The 6 crew members were Spanish.
