Robbers strangle widow to death, steal bags of rice, money
A widow has been strangled to death in her farm in Kwara State by robbers who carted away her money and bags of rice.
Punch reports that the victim, an indigene of Enugu State who was a popular food seller known as Mama Do Good, took to farming on the demise of her husband some years ago.
A member of the Igbo community in Chikanda, Mayor Akonobi, said that the woman was murdered by the assailants who had trailed her to the farm who later stole the money she wanted to pay labourers working for her.
The robbers were said to have also made away with 12 bags of rice harvested from the victim’s farm.
“The only guard at the farm when the incident occurred ran away when the assailants attacked her,” Akonobi informed.
The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Ajayi Okasanmi, who confirmed the incident, said the police had commenced investigation into the crime.
Okasanmi added that the guard and the labourers have been arrested and that they are helping the police in their investigations.
