76-yr-old man in the dock for raping 72-yr-old woman for 6 hours
A 76-year-old Zimbabwe man has been docked for allegedly raping a 72-year-old woman.
According to the report, the married Chandavengerwa from Matoka Village in Mberengwa, had allegedly broken into the home of the woman who is his neighbour, throttled her and raped her for almost six hours, even forcing the granny to perform different sexual positions for his pleasure.
Chandavengerwa was charged before regional magistrate Collet Ncube facing charges of unlawful entry into premises and rape and the magistrate remanded him till a later date for continuation of trial, though Chandavengerwa denied the allegations, saying the woman made up the allegations to fix him.
“Your worship I’m a married man. Why would I want to rape this woman? She hates me and that’s why she’s falsely accusing me of raping her. I didn’t go to her house,” he told the court.
But the victim insisted that before the rape, Chandavengerwa had gone to her house and declared that he would sleep with her that night.
“He came to my homestead and refused to leave saying he wanted to sleep at my home but I chased him away and told him that it wasn’t possible.
But in the night, I was sleeping when I heard Chandavengerwa struggling to break down the door. He succeeded on the third attempt and when he got inside, he throttled me to stop me from screaming before raping me."
The prosecuting, Andrew Marimo, told the court that on November 22, at around midnight, Chandavengerwa went to the 72- year-old woman’s homestead.
“Chandavengerwa allegedly broke down the locked door and gained entry into the woman’s bedroom hut. He then went on to choke the complainant and covered her mouth with his hands to stop her from screaming.
Chandavengerwa then undressed the old woman and forcefully had sexual intercourse with her without her consent and without using protection. He raped the woman all night and asked her to perform different sexual positions."
